Food additive: E numbers in our food and our health .......


Natural food products?
The unnatural influence from humans on our food chain (read bigger profits) makes that you probably think you use a natural product but in reality it’s not the case anymore! And for those products who are growing the natural way, the quality is lacking through exhausted ground, air pollution, fast growing methods, storing and transporting. All those fruits and vegetables that were all natural before have been packed and processed with pigments, sweeteners, preservatives, flavored, etc. About 400 of these additives can be found directly in our food and between 11.000 and 15.000 indirect through the food chain.

Avoid processed foods
In the Netherlands the ‘Consumentenbond’ (consumer organization) has published a handy flyer with a warning saying: Take care of these E numbers. A summary of official allowed additives in the E.U. with health risks. To avoid additives, choose fresh products witch haven’t been processed. (How do you know?) Avoid instant meals like fast food, soup, souses, desserts, sweets, and biscuits. Avoid the consumption of light products. Avoid products with an unnatural color.

This means that every can, pack, bag and pot in the supermarket should be on your ‘unsafe to eat list’ until you investigated the label.

Warnings
With several additives, warnings are: Asthmatic reactions, Cancer risk, Laxative, Flatulence bowel complaints, Retina damage, Hypersensitive, Damage your immune system, Reduced fertility.

For example Aspartame and other artificial sweeteners can be found in thousands of products. Saying that these sweeteners might be unsafe to use is an understatement.

Supermarket
You might understand that living by the book, I’d better return my supermarket costumer card. It’s up to you to decide how to live your life and what risk you are prepared to take. I still shop at the supermarket but I avoid lost of products and compensate some lifestyle habits with nutrition supplements. Of course I did the SpectraCell test more than once to see whether I’m doing good or bad. Just the thought that I protect my most valuable possession the best way I can is a reassuring idea.

How to make a sea minerals sole?
Put Keltic Sea minerals (the best = Sel gris) or Himalaya sea minerals in a jar 1/3 and 2/3 clean water. Shake this, a little sea minerals will be left at the bottem. You have now made the perfect sole with a balanced mix of 84 minerals and trace elements.
